Tree Dog was the best dog we've ever known. And he was a good representation of the breed. They meet everything we look for in a dog and fit our family almost perfectly. However, it may be fun to own a different type of dog. Plus no other boxer could replace Tree.
English Bulldog
Sweet, funny, love kids, love their familes. However, they're kind of expensive (not a major consideration) and they have tons of health issues which would not be fun.
Whippet
A new idea for us, but the more we look into them the more they're rising up the charts. Pros: can run up to 40mph. Cons: ugly as sin (and not in a cute bulldog type way).
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Pretty good looking dog. Muscular and active, but not as big as a boxer. They love their families and they're excellent with children. The negative here is that they're notorious for going after smaller animals. So they're not a breed that'd be good to let off the leash in a park which is a major drawback.
French Bulldog
Crystal's favorite as far as looks go. And Matthew's already decided if we go this route his name should be Wesley. They're kind of expensive, have a few health and breathing issues, and can be stubborn when training.
It's not 100% that our final choice will come from the above list. There are many other breeds to be explored. The one major characteristic that does rule out most breeds, however, is long hair. Unfortunately neither Matthew nor Crystal are willing to entertain the idea of living with a long-haired dog.
Other possible, yet unlikely, considerations yet to break their way into the top 5:
Weimaraner
Italian Greyhound
Pug
Boston Terrier
Any feedback or thoughts, whatsoever, would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
